New equipment for more accessible services and greater support for people with disabilities in Leskovac

As a partner in the regional project EMPOWERED for the territory of Serbia, IDC carried out the procurement and distribution of specialized equipment intended for the improvement of social and medical services for persons with disabilities in Leskovac.

This activity is a direct continuation of our efforts at the local level, where, in cooperation with ASB SEE, the City of Leskovac and local institutions and associations, we are actively working to create a more accessible and humane environment. Within this phase of the project, the equipment was handed over to key players in the city:

• The Leskovac Health Center received a gynecological chair adapted to people with limited mobility, a hydraulic lift and a three-part privacy screen. This donation will significantly improve the conditions for the provision of health services and ensure dignified and better support for female patients.
• The school for primary and secondary education “11 October” was donated equipment to equip the office for medical practice. This space was designed with the aim of providing children with developmental disabilities, through an adapted and supportive approach, a timely introduction to medical examinations, making going to the doctor less stressful and scary.
• The Muscular Dystrophy Association received a hydraulic lift that enables the safe transfer of people with limited mobility to the massage table. Thanks to this, massage and physical therapy services are now available to a significantly larger number of users of the association.

By improving the technical infrastructure in Leskovac, we are taking a systemic step towards reducing institutionalization and creating conditions for a dignified, independent life for fellow citizens with disabilities.
