
Within the project ‘‘Social partners allied in the support of legislative changes of the institute of peaceful settlement of labor disputes’, financed by Solidar Suisse/Swiss Labour Assistance (SLA) – Office in Serbia, with the goal of contributing to improving the respecting and implementation of the labor legislation in Serbia with the special review of the institute for the peaceful settlement of labor disputes, the workshop named ‘Peaceful settlement of labor disputes in practice’ was held on October 23, 2015 in Jagodina.
The interactive workshop started with the short presentation of the project and the institute for peaceful settlement of labor disputes to the participants of the workshop, after which there came the simulation of the procedure which aim was to familiarize the present employers and employees with the procedure.
‘It is necessary to raise the awareness of the employees and employers about the importance of the improvement of law, practice and advantages of the institute for peaceful settlement of labor disputes, such as: prevention of labor disputes, as well as the strikes, creating the positive business environment, economy, willingness and informality of the procedure, equality of the sides in the procedure, improving the communication of the sides in the dispute, and mostly the efficiency and relieving the courts’, said Milena Sosic, the Project Coordinator, in the introductory part of the workshop.
During the workshop, the participants had the opportunity to pose the questions directly to the project partners, conciliators, arbitrators and representatives of the Republic agency for peaceful settlement of labor disputes, as well as to get an insight into the process of peaceful settlement of labor disputes and its advantages in comparison with the judicial settlement of labor disputes.
The people who answered the questions of the participants were the following: Milena Sosic (Initiative for Development and Cooperation), Sladjana Kikovic (United Trade Unions ‘Independence’, Divna Vujasinovic Ducic (Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Serbia), Ivica Lazovic (Republic Agency for peaceful settlement of labor disputes), Zorica Radovic (Arbitrator) and Danilo Roncevic (Conciliator). Three more interactive workshops will be organized in the following cities: Sabac (November 6, 2015), Krusevac (November 20, 2015) and Novi Sad (November 23, 2015).
