World Refugee Day and presentation of  Erasmus+ “WAVE II” Project Results

Belgrade, July 2026 – To mark World Refugee Day, the IDC, in cooperation with Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) Serbia, successfully hosted a series of multiplier and dissemination events. The gatherings served as a platform to share the key findings and outcomes of the Erasmus+ WAVE II project.

The events highlighted the project’s newly developed Guidelines and innovative educational methodologies, which are specifically designed to promote core EU values, including human dignity, anti-discrimination, and justice.

Art and Music as Tools for Promoting EU Values

A cornerstone of the project’s success was the active contribution of JRS youth workers, who helped develop educational methods that creatively use art and music to promote fundamental EU values.

The events brought together more than 73 participants from a wide range of diverse refugee communities currently residing in Serbia, including individuals from Ukraine, Russia, Afghanistan, Syria, Somalia and Iran.

Beyond presenting the formal outputs of the WAVE II project, the gathering fostered a much-needed space for open dialogue. Participants exchanged personal stories and discussed the practical, everyday challenges they face while living in Serbia.

While some of the attendees are staying in the country temporarily, an increasing number have chosen to make Serbia their temporary home—actively building new lives by studying, working, and integrating into the local community.
