On May 20, 2025, an info session for internally displaced persons (IDPs), potential returnees to Kosovo and Metohija, was held in the Niš Cultural Center. During the session, the project “A Step Forward to return” was presented.

The info session, which attracted considerable interest from the local IDP community, was led by representatives of the Association of Citizens’ Initiative for Development and Cooperation (IDC), with support from Sasa Usenovic, member of the Municipal Council of Palilula, Nis.

The project “A Step Forward to Return”, aimed at providing comprehensive support for sustainable return to Kosovo and Metohija, is jointly implemented by IDC – Initiative for Development and Cooperation, the City Municipality of Zvezdara (Belgrade), and the Municipality of Palilula (Niš). IDPs were also introduced to the application procedure under the Public Call for selection of beneficiaries of training programs intended for returnees to Kosovo and Metohija, as part of the project.

In statements given to local media, participants emphasized the importance of promoting the toll-free information hotline 0800/100-550, intended to support and inform potential returnees to Kosovo and Metohija.

More than 20 internally displaced persons attended the info session. Through direct discussion with Miodrag Nedeljkovic, Executive Director of the Initiative for Development and Cooperation, who also spoke about good practices from previous return projects, participants received additional information on how their return to Kosovo and Metohija could be supported through this initiative.

As part of the planned project activities, an additional info session will be held in Belgrade, in the City Municipality of Zvezdara, which hosts a significant IDP population.
