Initiative for Development and Cooperation (IDC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the social and economic inclusion of less privileged categories of the population and the protection of their human rights. We work with vulnerable social groups that mostly live below the poverty line, and together with them, we try to fight for the highest possible level of social inclusion.
Our engagement in these areas has resulted in membership in the International Samaritan Network, associate membership in the SOLIDAR network, membership in the European Civil Forum, as well as membership in two domestic networks – the Anti-Poverty Network and the Coalition for Social Entrepreneurship Development of Serbia. We are also members of the World Association of NGOs (WANGO).
Since 2013, IDC has had the role of Secretary-General of the Social Economy Network of Serbia (SENS), which is currently the only network of social enterprises in Serbia. Apart from this, IDC is the initiator and founder of two social enterprises – Zadruga (Agro Iris) and EcoBag.
IDC works very closely with the German organization Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Serbia (ASB), with which it shares a number of joint projects.
IDC staff has many years of experience in social assistance programs, retraining, additional training, active job search, development of social services in the community, programs for starting your own business, organizing seminars, training…
We support the returnee population through the work of three good-neighbor clubs that we have opened in Novi Pazar, Sjenica, and Tutin. Workshops with children and youth, as well as business training with the distribution of grants for self-employment characterize their work.
Since 2020. IDC is a certified hosting organization within the EU Aid volunteers program. We actively participate in the organization of volunteer camps as well as the exchange of volunteers.
The IDC team has vast experience in project management and the development and implementation of various projects.
